Biology is a laboratory science which meets the CSU/UC eligibility requirement “D”. Students in this course study the relationships between living things and their environments. This course also includes the study of matter and biochemistry, cell structure and energy concepts, genetics, evolution, viruses, bacteria and immunity, human physiology, and the diversity of life forms.

    Expected School-wide Learning Results
    • Motivation: American society is based upon the principals of individualism and innovation, an attitude which can only be created through the motivation of ones self and the social body.
    • Integrity: Integrity is the foundation of all societies; we must have faith that all transactions in our social contract are conducted honestly and honorably.
    • Self-discipline: Unlike a comprehensive school, there are no teachers looking over our students’ shoulder. Like a real job, Polaris students must produce a product in order to achieve their goals. This requires self-discipline.
    • Technological Literacy: Our world has expanded beyond the single portal of computers; each new portal offers opportunities and risks, all of which the student must learn to critically assess.
    • Independent Thinking: Our society is based upon the certain knowledge that its citizens will analyze information in order to arrive at a unique understanding of the issues facing our nation and world.
